The 25-year-old was confronted outside Pindara Private Hospital in Benowa by men wearing balaclavas and armed with knives and a gun about 3.30am.
The nurse was forced into the boot of his car, police said, before he was driven to an ATM and forced to withdraw cash. Seven News reported he was forced to take out $500.
The car was driven away with the nurse in the boot but crashed into a fence on Kurrambee Avenue at Ashmore about 4.20am. The alleged kidnappers fled the car, and the nurse was found by neighbours.
One of the neighbours told Seven News she initially thought the nurse was a drunk driver when she went to help him.
"He was really badly hurt," she said.
"He said that he'd been robbed at gunpoint by four men - one of them had a gun, two of them had knives.
"He had knife wounds all down his arms and he was just in shock, he couldn't even tell me his name."
An ambulance spokeswoman said a man in his 20s was treated at the scene of the crash and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Later, about 4.45am, police were called to a second crash at Ashmore Road in Ashmore where a car had rolled. Police found knives in the car, and one man was taken into police custody.
The road was closed and police were hunting for the other alleged abductors.
