The recent hot weather has taken its toll on roads across the region, including a recently sealed intersection at Mailors Flat.
Crews will work to repair the Ibbs Lane and Warrnambool-Caramut Road intersection road seal, which is bleeding badly, a situation commonly referred to as a “melting road”.
Moyne Shire director of physical services Trev Greenberger said works at the intersection were expected to be completed by December 1.
“That intersection was sealed six months ago by contractors,” Mr Greenberger said.
“We have discussed the issue with the contractors and VicRoads.
“It’s also been agreed that the hot mix will be extended in all four directions at the intersection.”
Mr Greenberger said speed limit in the area had been reduced while the works are completed.
“Drivers are encouraged to obey the speed limits for their own safety and the safety of other road users.”
A Corangamite Shire spokesman said some roads in the shire had also been affected by the heat.
“We’re aware of it and crews are working on local roads to repair them,” he said.
A Warrnambool City Council spokesman said 10 roads had also felt the effects of the recent hot weather.
“As a result we applied about 40 cubic metres of 7 millimetre screenings (small stones) to the road surface along those 10 streets,” he said.
The spokesman said road users may be exposed to a little grit and dust as a result of the works and signs would be displayed to advise motorists of the changed road conditions.
