Nirranda opener Damon Cooper, a member of the Western Waves’ under 21 Victorian Country Cricket League unit, is expected to lead the line against Barwon on Sunday.
The 18-year-old was relishing the chance to lock horns with the state’s best young talent.
Cooper backed his usual batting philosophy in representative games, but said players needed to be flexible depending on game situation.
“You’re always facing a different set of bowlers, different conditions and it’s really good to fast-track your development in that sense,” he said.
“You have to keep moving forward and take every opportunity you get.”
The Western Waves’ under 21s will play Barwon at Camperdown Oval on Sunday.
