A stunning spell from right arm off-spinner Bailey Jenkinson – who finished with 5-13 for his first division one five-wicket haul – and a stifling 2-6 from Lewis Eldridge set the tone as the Factory bowled the Beavers out for 57 in just a tick over 37 overs.
“Bailey Jenkinson just turned 16 two weeks ago … he’s bowled extremely well with his off-spin at Jetty Flat,” Nestles captain Geoff Williams said. “I put him on just before drinks and he took a wicket, and he just kept on taking wickets so I couldn’t take him off.
“It wasn’t a bad little win; we bowled really well, which was the key.”
Wesley-CBC rallied for a hot start to the bowling, claiming 2-2, but Factory opener Caleb Bidmade and second-drop Jacob Hetherington put on a 55-run stand for the third wicket.
Beavers’ bowler Tom Bowman finished with 3-20, but there was little his side could do to stop the Factory as it chased down the target in 18.3 overs.
“Nestles were a quality side today – they bowled and fielded really well and kept us to a really small total,” Wesley-CBC captain Sam McCosh said.
“It’s just great to have another game in six days’ time. We’ll have a quick look at what went wrong (but) we’ll move on pretty quickly.”
Allansford is still unbeaten after a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Dennington, while Russells Creek is also undefeated after handing Brierly-Christ Church its first loss for the season, downing the understrength Bulls by four wickets.
Nirranda’s Allan Wallace claimed an incredible 4-4 from nine overs against Merrivale as his side went on to win by two wickets, while Port Fairy posted a 32-run win over East Warrnambool-YCW and West Warrnambool defeated Woodford by 50 runs.
