The Bulls bowled the undermanned Jets out for 32 in the first innings and declared on 3-156, after a strong batting effort led by opener Jimmy Tarbolton, who made 56.
But Mailors Flat fought back in the second innings and was 2-55 at stumps.
“I think we could’ve got maybe a couple more wickets, but it’s also hard with the second innings,” McKellar said. “I think we’re still about 120 in front, we get another chance to bat. We’ve got all next week (still to play).”
Pomoditha Senevirathna was the Jets’ best bowler, taking 2-27 off seven overs.
