Another 17mm of rain fell in Warrnambool across Sunday and Monday, taking the monthly total to 127mm – almost double the monthly average of 72mm.
In Corangamite Shire, Maddens Bridge Road near Glenfyne has been closed for three weeks. Up to 15mm is predicted later this week, but a shire spokesperson said he was hopeful the road would re-open later this week.
Repairs to areas affected by flood damage has been ongoing, but the shire spokesperson said works done in the wake of the 2016 floods meant the damage from recent inundations hadn’t been as bad as they could have been.
In Moyne Shire, two roads remain closed due to flooding – the southern end of Blakes Road at Nirranda and Cathcarts Ford Road near Grassmere, while Korongah North Road near Toolong remains closed due to flood damage.
