The Seagulls are chasing their first division one/A1 flag in the club’s first grand final appearance in the grade, but have to take on the might of the Kangaroos, who’ve played in the last three deciders, and won in 2014.
Port Fairy has won both encounters between the teams this season, prevailing by a goal in round one and six goals in round 10.
“The grand final is a different game,” Cuomo said. “You can’t rely on what happened previously; the slate pretty much gets wiped clean.
“(But) I think our consistency across the game probably helps us out.”
Cuomo, who plays goal defence, is striving for her first flag. She has not played in a grand final since 1998.
In division two, 2015 grand finalists Koroit and Hamilton Kangaroos will face off again in the decider, while division three sides Portland and North Warrnambool Eagles are making their first grand final appearances in the league’s newest grade.
North Warrnambool Eagles will look to defend its 17 and under flag when it takes on Camperdown. The two playing groups have faced off in the past two 15 and under flags.
In the 2017 15 and under decider, South Warrnambool is striving for its third flag, while Port Fairy is chasing its first – the closest the Seagulls got in the grade was a runner-up finish in 2010.
