The group had its first meeting on August 23 and has another planned for this Wednesday at the Warrnambool RSL with new members welcome. The first meeting attracted 11 members and people of all ages who suffer from arthritis are encouraged to join the group.
Occupational therapist Josephine Gibbs-Dwyer said there were huge benefits to be reaped from the support group.
“There is an empathy for each other and similar challenges they are facing,” Ms Gibbs-Dwyer said.
“Having an outlet group can help health and wellbeing and overcome feelings of isolation.”
The group is opened to people who suffer from conditions such as osteoarthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, ankylosing spondylitis, lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis.
The group has the backing of MOVE (formerly Arthritis Victoria).
