VicRoads now plans to begin work repairing 500 metres of road from the pedestrian overpass to the Port of Portland next Wednesday, September 20. The work will be carried out over three days.
VicRoads regional director Mark Koliba said it would include repairs to fix ruts and potholes and remove 200mm of the existing road, replacing it with a new asphalt surface.
"As we move into the warmer weather of spring/summer, we will be out in force to repair roads impacted by trucks and wet weather. This is one of the first repairs we are tackling,” Mr Koliba said.
"Later this month, we will begin repairing the Ring Road from the Princes Highway intersection to Madiera Packet Road, which we expect to be complete by the end of the year."
One lane will be closed and the speed limit reduced to 40km/h while work is under way.
