Weeran co-principal Alec Moore said the past 18 months had provided the best ever seasonal conditions and the best ever beef industry profitability during the stud’s 27 years of selling bulls at auction.
“Speaking to many clients, it’s really pleasing to hear the positive feeling in the industry,” Mr Moore said.
“It is in this environment that we have the pleasure to offer an outstanding run of power genetics that offer calving ease, high performance growth with loads of carcass potential,” he said.
Sixty five bulls will be on offer at Weeran’s bull sale on September 12.
Sire lines featured include Sydgen Black Pearl, Musgrave Big Sky, TeManiaNZ 11 465, Weeran Hooper H20, Weeran Joel J13, Weeran Jimmy J1 & Barwidgee JayW.
The stud recently went on a progeny inspection trip to New Zealand that included attending bull sales at TeMania NZ, Kakahu Angus and Stern.
The sales strengthened the stud’s belief that Sydgen Black Pearl was performing very well in different environments.
Mr Moore said that at Kakahu Angus, Sydgen Black Pearl was the standout sire line with 27 sons selling to a top of NZ$27,000.
“A highlight of our draft of bulls this year is the exceptional calving ease and low birth weight which consistently appears through the catalogue,” Mr Moore said.
“It is a fundamental advantage to instill in anyone’s program,” he said.
Calving ease sires on offer at Weeran includes 12 sons of Sydgen Black Pearl, six sons of Musgrave Big Sky, five sons of Weeran Hooper H20, 10 sons of Weeran Joel J13 and nine sons of Weeran Jimmy J1 for sale.
Weeran Angus also has two sires, Weeran Joel and Weeran Jimmy, in the Angus Australia Benchmarking Trials.
Weeran Joel to date is fourth out of 41 for low birthweight and fourth for 200 day weight. Weeran Jimmy to date is fifth out of 28 for birthweight and sixth for Net Feed Efficiency.
