More than 780 homes and businesses have been given access to the fibre-to-the-node (FTTN) network.
In a press release announcing the NBN rollout in Terang, Member for Wannon Dan Tehan said the network was capable of speeds between 50 and 100 megabits per second.
The areas immediately surrounding the Terang township will be serviced by fixed wireless NBN, which offers slower speeds.
Terang residents can contact an internet service provider to connect to the NBN.
According to the NBN rollout map at nbnbco.com.au FTTN connections are also being built in Camperdown and Cobden.
The FTTN build is complete in Port Fairy, but Moyne Shire has raised concerns about the FTTN rollout not going fair enough in Koroit and Mortlake.
Mr Tehan said the rollout in Wannon was gathering pace.
“The (NBN) will boost productivity and provide a platform for innovation to ensure the economic and social benefits of the internet are available to every Australian,” Mr Tehan said.
