Police said a 22-year-old male was involved in an altercation with a 43-year-old male on the northern side of the Timor Street-Gilles Street intersection in Warrnambool.
The incident took place about 2.50am and resulted in the 43-year-old receiving facial injuries and presenting at the Warrnambool Base Hospital’s emergency department.
Detective Senior Constable Wayne Ryan of Warrnambool police’s criminal investigation unit said the two men were involved in an earlier incident in the Highline Bar & Lounge at the Whalers Hotel that same night.
The 22-year-old left the premises and soon after the 43-year-old left the Highline as well.
The pair later came together again near the Courthouse Kitchen where the fight took place, Detective Senior Constable Ryan said.
The 22-year-old male spoke to police on Sunday and was charged with assault and recklessly causing injury.
He has been bailed to appear at the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on September 18.
