Twelve new volunteers are in the middle of their training as part of a yearly intake, and acting officer in charge Greg Kinross said he was excited to have the group coming through.
The group includes six members coming up from junior ranks and six other members from the community.
“They come in and learn about the CFA and then start to learn about skills for bushfires, then about the resuscitation, then we put it altogether in a training and assessment day at Penshurst,” Mr Kinross said.
“Over that period of time we teach them everything they need to know to be safe at the fire grounds, and at the end of the training program they’ll be kitted out with their gear.”
Mr Kinross said the recruits would continue to learn and grow their skills during their careers.
