The Standard understands the AFL Western District is analysing points allocated to senior footballers to ensure teams do not breach limits introduced at the start of the season.

AFL Western District declined to comment on speculation a club may have breached its cap.

The system was introduced in country and community football leagues statewide last season as part of AFL Victoria’s Community Club Sustainability Program – an equalisation initiative that will also see salary caps enforced from next season.

Each player is allocated a points value based on their experience and movement around leagues, with ‘home’ players – those who have played a minimum of 40 junior games at a club – worth one point and ex-AFL players worth the maximum six.
