Based on a true story, the film is rated 97 per cent on critic aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
It will screen at the Capitol Cinema on Friday at 6.30pm.
The Big Sick stars Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan, and is based on Nanjiani’s real-life experiences dating co-writer Emily V. Gordon.
It follows the pair’s growing romance, which suffers a severe setback when Emily falls ill and is put into a medically induced coma.
As Emily lies in a hospital bed, Kumail gets to know her family, while also dealing with his own Pakistani Muslim family, who are trying to pressure him into an arranged marriage with someone else.
The Big Sick also stars Ray Romano and Holly Hunter.
The film won the audience award at SXSW in the US earlier this year.
