“It’s funny, it’s like a homecoming,” Koroit coach Chris McLaren said.
“He was a Koroit junior player years and year ago.
“We tried to get him back to Koroit when I was under 18 coach. He’s good mates with James North.”
McKenry will make his Hampden league senior debut against Port Fairy on Saturday after overcoming an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
He arrived at Victoria Park after stints at Mininera and District league club Penshurst and Warrnambool and District league outfit Panmure.
“He’s a good, reliable player and is very clean,” McLaren said.
“He is good in the air as well.
“He’s a bit like Jayden Watson or Taylor Mulraney – he can play a little bit everywhere.”
