Marc Leishman makes strong start in opening round of US Open

MARC Leishman was the pick of the Aussies after a strong opening round in the US Open. The Warrnambool export shot a four-under-par 68 at the Erin Hills Golf Course. American local Rickie Fowler leads after a seven-under-par performance. Leishman sits tied for seventh on the leaderboard heading into the second round. Leishman turned in a three-under-par 33 on the front nine on the back of three birdies and was five-under after the 12th, before a bogey on the 17th hole.
