Justin Turner, 32, of Elizabeth Street, appeared via a video link in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Thursday from prison after being charged with also breaching a community corrections order.
Turner admits the breach and that charge was adjourned until a further hearing on July 7.
Solicitor Xavier Farrelly said that Turner had pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court during April to manslaughter and he expected a lengthy prison sentence would be imposed on June 23 - Friday next week.
Turner pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court sitting at Warrnambool during April to the manslaughter of his partner Kylie Cay.
Ms Cay, 44, died in her Elizabeth Street home on June 21 last year after being discharged from hospital, four days after a family violence incident involving her and Turner.
Crown prosecutor Raymond Gibson said Ms Cay had suffered a painful, lonely and miserable death.
