Simpson will vie against seven other dairy regional capitals from throughout Australia for the title.
The other dairy regional capitals in the running for the national honour, to be announced in September, are Poowong representing Gippsland, Cohuna (Murray Region), Hannam Vale (NSW), Mount Schank (SA), Beaudesert (Subtropical region), Ringarooma (Tasmania) and Cowaramup (WA).
As a regional winner, Simpson received a $2500 grant to restore popular features of the town’s picturesque Historical Park. If it wins the national title, it will receive a further $7500 to go towards its local initiative.
