EMMANUEL College’s reputation as a football and netball powerhouse continues to grow after another dominant display at the district’s Year 7 and 8 winter sports carnival this week.

The College won the Year 7 boys’ and Year 8 boys’ football, Year 7 girls’ and Year 8 girls’ netball, as well as cleaning up in the Year 8 boys’ and girls’ badminton and Year 7 boys’ table tennis.

Emmanuel College physical education co-ordinator Michael Clements said it was a great achievement from the students and their coaches.

“We had about 150 kids in total competing in football and netball, which is big numbers – the kids are keen as mustard,” he said.

“We feel we attract high-level footballers and netballers in particular, just because of the academies we run through the middle years and the coaches do a fantastic job.”

Clements praised the work of coaches Leah Kermeen, Fiona McCosh, Ali Lucas, Justin Marris and Connor Devine for their efforts in training the teams over lunchtimes in the lead-up.

The winning teams progress to Greater Western Region finals.
