What do you most love about living in Port Fairy? The community, and it’s the world’s most liveable town.
Describe Port Fairy in five words: Beautiful, welcoming, charming, historic and friendly.
If you could live anywhere where would you choose? On the outskirts of Port Fairy.
What's on your bedside table right now? A couple of books and a light. Attached to the light is my Port Fairy FNC membership and my Warrnambool Racing Club membership.
Tea or coffee? Coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon.
If you had a million dollars what would you do with it? Probably buy a couple of racehorses and do a lot more world travel.
What career did you want to pursue when you were a teenager? I wanted to be a farmer, like my dad, but he persuaded me to become a vet and I loved that and I have loved being a politician.
What would your ideal Sunday involve? A sleep-in, bacon and eggs for breakfast with the Sunday papers, and hopefully reading about a good Cats win.
What is something people might not know about you? I think they know everything about me. There are no more secrets.
If you could choose to go back 100 years or forward 100 years what would you do and why? I’d go forward to see the growth and development of this region.
What recipe are you renowned for cooking for family or friends? I’m pretty good at sausages and a barbecue – anything that’s simple.
When and where are you your most happiest? When the Cats win and when I back a winner at the races.
What is the best piece of advice you've been given? To have a go. You can do anything and you can achieve anything. As a kid I was told it would be difficult for a country kid to do veterinary science but I gritted my teeth and thought “I’ll show them”.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years? I hope I’m still fit and well and travelling around the world and returning to walks along Port Fairy’s South and East beaches.
