“She was going half-paced. I was never going to get beat,” he said after his first win in the feature.
"He made my job very easy. He was turned out in magnificent order.
“I was just a passenger. I got a perfect cart into the race.”
Lane, riding for master trainer Darren Weir, labelled the win “amazing”.
"I looked around at the 500-metre-mark and there was nothing going anywhere near as good as me,” he said.
"When I turned for home I knew I wasn't going to get beat.”
