Warrnambool residents were complaining about stock being allowed to wander unattended on roads, particularly at night. Several district motorists were involved in accidents involving stock.
Police warned district truck owners to take care to ensure spare wheels were attached in such a way as to prevent them being stolen following a number of thefts.
150 YEARS AGO:
A public meeting was held at the Commercial Hotel in Koroit to discuss the formation of a football club in the town.
Warrnambool police warned the public to look out for counterfeit coins after a number were passed at the Warrnambool Races.
Police were kept busy at the races with drunks, pick-pockets and ‘con-men’. Drunks were the most common problem, with one man charged with pouring lemonade over a stand of confectionery displayed at a stall.
