Campbell, 20, appeared in the Supreme Court of Victoria on Thursday morning in front of Justice Lex Lasry for a directions hearing. He then pleaded guilty to murder.
A plea hearing has been scheduled before Justice Lasry on May 1. Campbell is expected to be sentenced on May 5.
Campbell, Lanie Snell, 35, and Samuel Worthy, 20, all of Hamilton, were charged with murder.
Witness Missy Andrews told a Warrnambool committal hearing last year that Ms Snell and Mr Kane had a falling out a few months before his death over “a smart-arsed comment” Mr Kane had made about one of Ms Snell’s children.
