South West Coast Piper Drummer Dancer 2017 is in it 17th year and attracts international tutors to teach students from across Australia.
Organised by the Warrnambool Pipe Band, the event was a way to spread the word about Celtic music and dance, pipe band drum tutor Peter Moir said.
“For any cultural music group, you have a responsibility,” Moir said.
“You need to be passing on what we’ve gained from the past to the future.”
This year’s event features tutors from France, New Zealand, Scotland and Canada.
Workshops take place at the Church of England Hall and the pipe band rooms at Friendly Societies’ Park on Friday afternoon, and at Emmanuel College on Saturday and Sunday.
There is also a showcase concert at King’s College on Friday night.
