A TYPICALLY quiet Saturday night for a Colac retiree on the weekend became one of the best nights of his life.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, took out division one in Tattslotto, pocketing $686,749.11.
“We usually watch the draw,” the man said.
“There’s nothing much else to do.”
The man and his wife had to check their numbers more than once.
“I thought someone was having a lend of me,” he said.
“I didn’t believe it. I read the numbers and went over to my wife and gave her a copy of the numbers and said ‘I’ll read out what we’ve got’. She didn’t believe it either.”
The man said the win would make life a lot easier for the couple.
“It will make a huge difference,” he said.
“We’ll share some of the money with our children, but also buy ourselves a new car to help us get around.”
The man said the couple’s family was delighted.
“They reckon it’s the greatest thing that could happen to us.”
He said the couple had been playing Tattslotto for a long time.
“This is the biggest win so far, that’s for sure,” the man said.
He purchaed the 12-game QuickPick from Colac Lotto.
It is the second time the outlet has sold a division one winning entry in less than a month.
Colac Lotto owner Glenn Monaghan said it was fantastic news.
“We’re on a lucky run,” he said.
“Hopefully we’ll see some more wins for our customers.”
