South Warrnambool footballer Hugh McCluggage started his AFL career with a south-west touch on Sunday, receiving his first Brisbane Lions guernsey from Western District identity Bernie Harris.

The former Fitzroy player said McCluggage came from “good Western District stock, down Warrnambool way” in the Etihad Stadium change rooms before the game.
McCluggage, the 2016 number three draft pick, finished with 13 touches in the Lions’ loss to St Kilda.
