After five years and raising more than $160,000 for Peter’s Project and other charities, ball organiser Bernie Price said the committee and ball would take a hiatus.
“We’re taking a break and are looking at a new format to fund-raise in the future,” Mrs Price said.
The ball, which began in 2012 as a Peter’s Project fund-raiser, was organised by community members who wanted to join the crusade to have an integrated cancer centre in Warrnambool.
Held annually in July, it raised money for Peter’s Project in the first three years with Warrnambool SES and Lifeline South West Vic additional beneficiaries in 2015 and 2016.
It was held in the Fun4Kids festival marquee on the Civic Green for three years, before moving to Deakin University’s Ginger Kitchen. The ball attracted 460 people in its first year and 300 people in 2016.
