A fund-raiser will be held on Sunday for well-known chef and father-of-four Charlie Savage, who is receiving treatment after discovering three tumours on his brain.
One of the event organiers, David Flett, said Mr Savage was a much-loved member of the community.
“He has been here for 40-odd years and has worked all over the district. There wouldn’t be too many people in this area who haven’t had a meal from Charlie,” he said.
Sunday’s fund-raiser will begin at 11am at the Railway View Hotel Timboon. An auction will be held from noon and will include accommodation vouchers, AFL football jumpers and stud fees from Bullarook Park.
Mr Flett thanked the generosity of those who had donated to the cause and said a large crowd was expected at the event.
“We know times are tough for people at the moment, but every little bit helps,” he said.
Mr Savage underwent his first operation in late February to remove one of the tumours and has more procedures to come.
His partner, Bernie, has taken time off work to be by his side at hospital in Melbourne.
Funds can also be donated to the Charlie Fund, BSB:083928, account: 853211555.
