Westvic Staffing Solutions’ strong growth has led to the creation of a new senior role at the employment and training agency.
Long-term employee and “community leader” Wayne Robertson has been appointed as the group’s new chief operating officer.
In the new position Mr Robertson will drive strategic direction and performance and ensure Westvic achieves its goals and maximises community opportunities.
Mr Robertson will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Westvic’s suite of services across all offices from March 13.
Mr Robertson has managed the apprentice network from Warrnambool for the past nine years. Prior to that, the Cobden resident worked in Westvic’s Colac and Camperdown offices.
Mr Robertson, 40, said his start as an apprentice butcher had given him a good grounding and he’s remained committed to learning new skills.
“I’ve always been open to developing and challenging myself,” the Leadership Great South Coast graduate said.
“I have a strong passion for the employment industry and Westvic,” he said. “We engage people into employment and strive to capture every opportunity for our region to prosper.
“Any opportunity we create gives benefit to the region and we have some exciting things happening at the moment, such as the 100 Jobs in 100 Days campaign which has been a great success.”
Westvic has offices in Warrnambool, Portland, Hamilton, Colac, Camperdown and Melbourne and is expanding into the Central Highlands region.
Westvic Staffing Solutions CEO Dean Luciani said he was pleased a “home-grown talent” had been chosen for the senior role.
“We had more than 25 quality applicants through the external recruitment process but Wayne’s strong networks, skills, innovative thinking and his passion for the industry made him the outstanding choice,” Mr Luciani said.
“Wayne comes from a trade background and his success shows what can be achieved through personal development,” he said.
“He’s a real community leader.”
