Moyne Shire Council has announced the Koroit Truck Show has won the Event of the Year category in its Australia Day awards.
The Koroit Truck Show will roar back into action this Saturday at Victoria Park.
Organiser Shirl McCosker said the award was an honour and would provide some real momentum.
“We are really pleased to have the event recognised like this,” Mr McCosker said.
“It is pretty good timing for us. It helps keep our name out there.
“Getting the truck show up and going has been a gradual build and now it is the third biggest in Victoria, which is pretty impressive.”
Mr McCosker said more than 200 trucks would go on show this year – up on last year’s numbers.
Also included are motorbikes and cars while freestyle motorbike FMX riders will be in action.
The motorbikes will jump a load of hay, donated by S&J Wilson Contractors, with the hay then auctioned off with the proceeds going to beyondblue. Some proceeds from the truck show will go to the Leila Rose Foundation.
There will be some celebrity clout at the show with Yogi from the television show Outback Truckers a special guest while Mack from the movie Cars will return.
The Koroit Truck Show has a wider community reach, with Koroit Cricket Club providing catering.
The large crowd attracted to the truck show ensures the day is one of the club’s best fundraising events for the year.
