Brown, who is leading the Mermaids at Country Basketball League level over the summer, will oversee the outfit’s return to statewide ranks after a three-year absence in 2017.
Matt Alexander has re-signed as Seahawks’ division one mentor after guiding the side to a breakthrough championship this year, while Craig McLeod will lead the Seahawks’ youth league roster.
Brown, a former Bendigo Spirit player, said she was excited about her new role.
“Coming back to Warrnambool – I hadn’t lived here for quite a while – I wanted to give back to the program that gave me so much as a junior,” she said.
“I thought it was disappointing for the young girls playing basketball that there was nothing to aspire to once they got to under 18 level unless you left town.”
