The Ag Census gathers facts and figures from agricultural businesses and is different to the Population Census that was conducted earlier this year.
Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Environment and Agriculture Statistics officer Lisa Wardlaw-Kelly said the census was taken every five years to help develop policies and programs that support farmers and rural communities.
“Its importance cannot be overstated,” she said.
The farming community has until late October to complete the 2016 Census form.
Ms Wardlaw-Kelly said it was easy to jump online.
“The Ag Census is vital in ensuring that contribution shows up in official statistics,” she said.
