Publican Bruce Murley was prepared for the onslaught with “plenty of the black stuff” selling four barrels of Guinness by 3pm on Thursday.
“That’s a week’s worth normally,” Mr Murley said.
Irishman Jim Devoy came to Australia in 1968 and said it was a special day for him.
“It’s a public holiday in Ireland every year and we’re still trying to make it one here. I love the Guinness,” Mr Devoy laughed.
Koroit Irish Festival committee member Barry Brody said the day’s celebrations were the ideal lead-up to next month's Irish festival.
