The Liberal Party candidate posted the news on her campaign Facebook page on Wednesday night.
“Just received a phone call from the returning officer notifying me that I was successful and am now the member for South West Coast.” Mrs Britnell said.
“I am honoured and humbled to have been chosen by the local community. I thank the wonderful team of supporters who worked tirelessly during the campaign.
“Tomorrow is day one as your local member and I commit to you to work hard and fight for our great South West Coast.”
The poll is expected to be officially declared this week, with Mrs Britnell due in Parliament next week.
Mrs Britnell achieved 60 per cent of the two-candidate preferred vote, well ahead of independent candidate Roy Reekie who achieved 39 per cent.
The result means south West Coast remains a safe Liberal seat, with a tiny 0.6 per cent swing registered against Mrs Britnell.
In the primary vote count, Mrs Britnell gained 40 per cent of the vote, down from predecessors Denis Napthines 57 per cent.
