Committee member Edward Mahony said the ball on May 6 would aim to replicate a trackside atmosphere.
“We will have a races theme and generally conduct it like it’s a birdcage event at the spring carnival in Melbourne,” he said.
The event will be held in the Lighthouse Theatre foyer with live music and canapés on offer.
Last year’s event attracted about 150 people.
“There was a fantastic atmosphere last year. Lots of people from different professions and trades met where they wouldn’t have otherwise,” Mr Mahony said.
“It’s also an opportunity for those who may not be able to head along to the May Racing Carnival to still feel involved.”
Profits from the $85 tickets will go back into helping Warrnambool Young Professionals continue to grow.
“All the money raised will go back towards other events that we run throughout the year,” Mr Mahony said.
The group was established in 2014 and has since hosted eight events that help develop social networks among Warrnambool’s young professionals, many of whom are new to the area and often not planning to stay long.
The gala ball will be held on Wednesday, May 6, at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from The Surf Co and Wilde Dental.
