But Victoria's second parliamentary chamber receives far less scrutiny. South-west voters will elect five upper house MPs on Saturday.

Fairfax Media has compiled a photo gallery of eight candidates standing for the Western Victoria region, which covers the Warrnambool, Ballarat, Horsham, Geelong, Portland, Stawell and Hamilton districts.
Two of the people included have been MPs for nearly eight years, one has been in parliament for four years and several others are newcomers to the political scene.
