Sergeant Cameron Ross, of the Warrnambool police Highway Patrol Unit, said the single-vehicle accident happened in Gateway Road about 8.15pm.
"The young woman driver had just left work. Her Ford Laser collided with a light pole and rolled on to its roof. She was taken to Warrnambool Base Hospital for observation," he said.
"Powercor staff attended the accident scene and removed the light pole. The vehicle received moderate damage and had to be towed."
Sergeant Ross said the woman was heading south between the Gateway Road roundabout and the Raglan Parade traffic lights when the accident happened opposite the Woolworths supermarket.
"The cause of the accident is still being investigated but distraction could be a contributing factor," he said.
