MERRIVALE has set up a tantalising second semi-final against Panmure by thrashing Dennington in Saturday's qualifying final at Allansford Recreation Reserve.

The Tigers kept the Dogs goalless for all of the third term and most of the last en route to the 15.10 (100) to 6.8 (44) triumph in front of a solid crowd.

Brad Kelly kicked five goals - four of which came during a 5.4 to 4.6 first half when he was arguably best afield - while Jet Dowie booted three.

The Tigers' back six - Todd McLean, Scott Kelly, Jack Grace and Matt Gleeson included - were also match-defining, as was ruckman Manny Sandow.

Dennington, by contrast, had few winners. Luke Duncan tried hard in defence and could hold his head high while Luke Pearson and Jordan Greene were prolific.

The Dogs also acknowledged the work of Darcy Lewis, although the Tigers were likewise rapt with his direct opponent Jack Grace.

Meanwhile, Dennington stormed into the A grade second semi-final by defeating Panmure 42-30 in the qualifying final.

Katie Burt shot 29 goals and midcourter Kelsey Perry was best on court for the Dogs, who play unbeaten Old Collegians next weekend.

Former coach Josie Ellerton led the way for the Bulldogs, who had Charlotte McCutcheon (22 goals) as their top scorer.

In other football results, Merrivale booted 7.3 to 0.0 to clinch a come-from-behind 26-point triumph against Old Collegians in the reserves.

The Tigers trailed by 19 points at three-quarter-time but broke the shackles thereafter with a stunning final term kicking towards the Princes Highway.

Russells Creek fell agonisingly short of an upset in 17 1/2s, with the Kangaroos losing to Merrivale 9.10 (64) to 10.2 (62).

And Kolora-Noorat defeated Merrivale 7.4 (46) to 1.3 (9) in the under 14 1/2s.

The A reserve netball clash went the way of Merrivale thanks to its 43-38 win against Panmure while Old Collegians beat Dennington 39-25 in B grade.

The Warriors also took the honours in the 17 and under grade against Timboon Demons 39-24.

South Rovers edged out Merrivale 22-20 in the 15 and under grade and Old Collegians was too good for Dennington 35-19 in the 13 and under grade.

Elimination final day is at Merrivale Recreation Reserve on Sunday.
