Premier and member for South West Coast Denis Napthine said applications had opened for the latest round of Coastcare grants, which provide funding to support projects, such as pest control and weed management.
“I urge community groups, environmental networks and education providers across the south-west to apply to assist with coastal protection works in our region,” Dr Napthine said.
“Groups can apply for small grants of up to $7000 and medium grants of between $7000 and $20,000 to assist with projects which protect and enhance our beaches and coastal waterways.
“The state Coalition recognises and values the important work of volunteers and these grants are designed to encourage practical local action.”
More than $200,000 was allocated across Victoria after the last round of submissions.
Applications close August 15 and can be downloaded from www.depi.vic.gov.au/coastcare
