City council infrastructure director Peter Robertson said the new lights would improve visibility and the amenity of the area.
“As with other lights installed by the council in public areas, the lights at the breakwater use LED technology which has lower power needs than more conventional mercury vapour lights,” Mr Robertson said.
He said the council bought the poles and fittings for the project, which was completed with a grant of $20,000 from the Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure.
