The funds were raised through a three-course community dinner, which grade 6 pupils planned and cooked for 60 guests last Wednesday night.
The idea from the dinner came from a student leaders’ congress in February which all local schools attended.
Principal Simon Perry said the dinner was a huge achievement for a school of just 93 pupils.
“Our aim was to raise awareness and money for the Peter’s Project Foundation and educate the community about cancer research, support and prevention,” he said.
“The pupils used produce from our own kitchen garden and sourced anything else they needed from local businesses.
“Everything was designed by the pupils, from the menu to the table decorations.
“We had pupils working as waiters and they cooked everything except for the main course meats.”
An auction on the night raised about $2000 with many local businesses donating goods, services and signed Geelong and Essendon jumpers.
