Track officials yesterday unveiled their season 2014-15 calendar, which features seven meetings from December 6 to April 11.
The schedule includes two rounds of the 360 sprintcars’ All Stars Series and one round of the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria series.
Super rods, wingless sprints, junior sedans and formula 500s are among other classes to race multiple times, while speedcars make a welcome return.
Simpson Car Club president Alan Symons said the calendar was “pretty similar to last year”.
He said the super rods’ state title returning to Simpson — home to several drivers in the class — on February 14 was one highlight.
The three nights featuring sprintcars should also attract a crowd. The All Stars Series rounds could potentially feature American drivers.
“We complement each other really well. For a while, when the 360s first started, they were finding it hard to find venues to run at,” Symons said.
“Simpson got behind the 360s and now everyone realises the 360s and the 410s, there’s not much difference.
“And a lot of Americans actually specialise with racing 360s. Because we got behind them, they look after us and we look after them.”
