Bank directors were handed the keys to their new Bank Street building by developer Mick Hearn, from MM Hearn.
The bank will be officially opened on June 24, with celebrations that morning followed by the doors opening for business in the afternoon.
Staff of the new bank, who have been training in Warrnambool, will be coming and going from the new premises over the next two weeks as they complete set up.
Ashley King is the bank manager and other staff include Rachel Root, Tania Dalton, Naomi Harman and Kathryn Ewensen.
Nicole Dwyer, one of 10 Port Fairy and District Community Bank directors, said the handing over of the keys was a significant moment.
“It has been a five-year journey to get the bank up and going, so it has been a hard slog,” Mrs Dwyer said.
“This is another really good milestone along the way and the building is finished and MM Hearn have also completed the internal fit out. In the lead-up to the opening the computer and security systems will be put in and some fine-tuning done.”
Plans for the June 24 opening include a jumping castle, music, a free barbecue and involvement from Port Fairy’s two primary schools.
