Fagan Wamoana, 20, of Lyndoch Avenue, Warrnambool, was denied bail in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday over charges relating to the alleged forced entry and assault of his former partner and another man at their home in Warrnambool on Saturday night.
In his evidence to the court, Detective Senior Constable Wayne Ryan alleged Mr Wamoana arrived at his former partner’s home late at night and began banging on the door.
The victim opened the door and ordered the accused to leave, but Mr Wamoana allegedly forced his way into the house, punching his ex-partner and another man who was sleeping there.
Detective Senior Constable Ryan said the accused then grabbed his 16-month-old child from the victim and left.
The child was located at another address the next morning unharmed.
“The incident turned out well for the accused in that nothing happened to the child,” Detective Senior Constable Ryan said.
Mr Wamoana was arrested by police on Sunday afternoon.
Mr Wamoana appeared at the court mention unrepresented and told the magistrate he had recently completed an alcohol rehabilitation program.
“I can’t possibly grant you bail,” magistrate Andrew Capell said, referring to the accused’s breach of parole conditions.
Mr Wamoana was remanded in custody to appear in court at a later date.
