Portland highway patrol’s Acting Sergeant Andrew Payne said the 29-year-old Japanese national veered onto the wrong side of the road before running off the asphalt, hitting scrub and flipping the car onto its roof.
SES and CFA crews removed the back window of the car and the man was able to exit with no serious injuries.
He was taken to Mt Gambier Hospital as a precaution.
“To crash like that at speed, he’s very lucky (to survive),” Acting Sergeant Payne said.
The accident happened about 12.20pm in the Greenwald area.
