The development has included the construction of two compliant asphalt netball courts, two synthetic turf tennis courts and fittings, improved lighting and fencing.
Two rounds of netball have already been played at the courts, but this weekend’s home game for Tyrendarra against Heathmere will be used to officially open the new facilities.
Glenelg Shire mayor John Northcott said it was fantastic that work on the netball courts could be completed in time for the netball season.
“Weekly updates have been posted at the clubrooms at the Tyrendarra Recreation Reserve to keep members and the general community up to date with the project’s progress,” Cr Northcott said.
“All landscaping works and site clean-up were completed by the start of the netball season.
“There has been plenty of excitement about the work being done and the final product is one that should make the community very proud.”
This project was jointly funded by the Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure (DTPLI), Glenelg Shire Council and Tyrendarra Sporting Clubs.
