Camperdown police’s Senior Constable Stephanie Rogers said the woman was turning her 1988 Volkswagen campervan into Manifold Street just before 3pm when another motorist tooted their car horn.
“She pulled into the nearest park, then saw fire on the road and smelt petrol inside the car,” Senior Constable Rogers said.
“The lady got out of the van just before it was engulfed in flames. She was very lucky, but she lost everything. She only got herself out.”
