The three-course “veterans’ lunch” was cooked and served by the college’s year 11 and 12 Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students as part of their studies that linked into Anzac Day.
Terang College VCAL literacy teacher Kylie Clark said the lunch was also part of the school’s efforts to involve the local community more in the school’s activities and build good relationships between young and old generations.
It also aimed to build respect among the younger generation for returned members of Australia’s armed services.
During the lunch, students interviewed the veterans about their war experiences.
They will write stories based on the interviews that will be published in the school’s newsletter.
