The donor centre will operate an extra 10 hours each week, with hopes it can fill 220 appointments in the coming month including about 24 appointments each Monday.
“By extending the hours, the Warrnambool Blood Donor Centre can collect the generous donations from almost 40 additional donors to save lives each week,” blood service spokeswoman Sarah McKendrick said.
“The donor centre needs to collect almost 5000 donations each year, and with every blood donation saving up to three lives that’s enough blood to help up to 15,000 patients in need.”
The donor centre is open Monday 7.30am-3.30pm; Tuesday noon-8.30pm; Wednesday 1pm-8.30pm; and Thursday 7.30am-3.30pm.
